The Alpine Horn
Despite being made of wood, the Alpine Horn is counted among the brass instruments, because of the embouchure, and the method through which it produces tone. Depending on the landscape, it can be heard up to 10 Kilometers away, and it is considered a national symbol for Switzerland. The Alpine Horn has neither keys, slides nor valves, and is therefore limited to open, natural tones. Its length depends on the key in which the instrument is tuned.
