Dr. Susanne Schaal-Gotthardt (46) will take over as Director of the Hindemith Institute Frankfurt from her predecessor Prof. Dr. Giselher Schubert, who had been with the Institute since 1974 and is now retiring due to age. The musicologist has worked as a research assistant in the organisation since 1993.
Susanne Schaal-Gotthardt studied musicology, ancient Greek, Italian and philosophy in Freiburg/Breisgau, where she received her doctorate in 1991 with a thesis on early Baroque opera theory. She has been a member of the Hindemith Institute in Frankfurt since 1993. In addition to her scientific work on Hindemith, her areas of responsibility have included the editing of the Hindemith Yearbook, the Hindemith Forum, the conception and supervision of exhibitions, and other areas of public relations.
