Transcribed by Vladimir Horowitz
based on motifs by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and inspired by Franz Liszt
as played and recorded in 1947 for RCA Victor
For the first time, Horowitz's best-known transcription appears in an official version. Horowitz never wrote down his transcriptions and so the edition follows the transcriptions of Caine Alder, who copied and transcribed Horowitz's recordings.
The transcription impresses with Horowitz's mastery of combining impressive virtuosity with lyrical elegance and will give both the performer and the audience much pleasure.
