Timanfaya

A holiday trip to the volcanic island of Lanzarote in the Canary Islands inspired Hans bernd Zimmermann to write a concert fantasy for wind orchestra, in which the moods and atmospheres of the trip are expressed through music.

The shimmering heat and birdsong of the lava desert created a mystical atmosphere as we walked through the lava landscape. The camel rides in this desert and the Moorish past of this island are portrayed by spirited Spanish melodies and rhythms.

Timanfaya was published together with Japanese Journey as part of a sponsorship by Stretta Music and released for Deutsches Musikfest 2025, which is organised by the Bundesvereinigung Deutscher Musikverbände e.V. (BDMV).
