The Wellerman is a sea shanty, or whaling song, which dates back to nineteenth century New Zealand. It became a viral hit, thanks to a postman from Airdrie, Scotland, Nathan Evans, who posted his rendition on TikTok, inspiring a nation and the world, and it has since stormed the charts.
This traditional sea shanty is named after the Weller Brothers' ships sent out to bring supplies, `sugar and tea and rum´, to the whaling boats off the coast of New Zealand.
