Giovanni Bolzoni (Parma, May 14, 1841 – Turin, February 21, 1919) was admitted, at the age of ten, as a boarding student at the Royal School of Music in Parma: here he studied violin with Giuseppe Del Majno, singing with Giuseppe Griffini, piano with Riccardo Gruntner, and harmony and composition with Giovanni Rossi; he graduated in 1859, the first boarding student to complete studies in composition, violin, and piano.
