Commissioned by the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, this concertino was originally conceived as a part of a complete educational concertprogram. Four concertini, each featuring a different instrumental family within the chamberorchestra, are played in succession to demonstrate the characteristic sounds of those instruments.
