Ferdinand David (1810–1873) was a prominent German violin virtuoso, composer, and music educator. As the long-time concertmaster of the ‘Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra’ and a close friend of Felix Mendelssohn, he decisively shaped the musical life of the Romantic era. David composed a whole range of works in various genres. His most frequently performed work is undoubtedly the ‘Concertino for Trombone and Orchestra’.
