Alonso Mudarra (um 1510-1580) gehört zu den bedeutendsten spanische Komponisten und Vihuelaspielern des 16. Jahrhunderts. Die vorliegenden Kompositionen wurden seinem 1546 in Sevilla erschienenen `Tres libros de Música en cibras para vihuela´ entnommen, welche Stücke für Vihuela in verschiedener Stimmung ung für 4-saitige Gitarre enthalten.
