Und plötzlich, aus der Finsternis heraus war es da: die Frohbotschaft. Die "Grosse Weihnachtspartita" ist eine klingende Weihnachtsgeschichte, bestehend aus insgesamt 11 Teilen. Eine Aufführung kann rein instrumental stattfinden, wirkungsvoller wird die Darstellung jedoch mit Erzähler und einem Chor (SATB). Der grundlegende Gedanke dieses umfangreichen Werkes war, eine fein abgestimmte und musikalisch sinnvolle Zusammenstellung zu präsentieren. Die »Grosse Weihnachtspartita« kann somit als komplettes Konzertprogramm aufgeführt werden.
