Im Hochland dürfte im 1866er Feldzug entstanden sein. Im Untertitel nannte Gottfried Piefke den Marsch ''Kriegerische Wiegenlieder'' und widmete ihn dem am 14.11.1863 geborenen Sohn des Prinzen Friedrich Karl, Friedrich Leopold. Es ist auch anzunehmen, daß ihm zu dieser Zeit die Idee zu seinem ''Feld-Relais-Galopp'' gekommen ist.
