Uelzener Kuhlau-Edition 7
The trio D major op. 86 No. 2, written in 1826/27 was published for the first time- together with the trio E minor op.86 No.1 and Es major op.86 No.3 – by the publisher Johann August Böhme from Hamburg. A parallel edition was arranged by the Parisien publisher Aristide Farrenc.
Successor prints came out at the publishing house successor company Cranz (Hamburg respectively Leipzig) and at Richault (Paris). In the latter house an edition for two flutes as op.86bis was printed too.
New prints followed at Costallat/Billaudot (Paris) and IMC (New York). The presented new edition within the framework of the “Uelzener Kuhlau-Edition” contains for the first time in the publishers history of the trio apart from the simple parts also a printed score. Two points of view were definitive for this: First a perfect implementation also of smallest instrumentated chamber music works according to todays standards is to ensured only on the strength of the comparison of the parts carried out with the eye, second the mistakes and discrepancies contained in the part editions can only be noticed and corrected by means of the general view of the parts set in score, so that now a perfect text is available.
All difficult questions are considered and identified clearly in the revision report, with the practically convertion of the music text as well as the academic-critical approach of a complete edition is done well enough.
