A fresh approach
Flute Sight-Reading 2 aims to build on the sight-reading skills learnt in book 1. There are five sections in increasing development. The emphasis is on providing idiomatic tunes and structures rather than sterile sight-reading exercises.
Preface - To the Pupil - Section 1: Two-octave range; changes of time signature within pieces - Section 2: Extending the range to high D; triplets, off-beat quavers and semiquaver rests- Section 3: Extending the range to high F; swing rhythms; 5/8, 7/8 and 8/8 - Section 4: Extending the range to high G; ornamentation; chromatic patterns - Section 5: Revising all previous keys; whole-tone, chromatic and modal patterns; trills, turns and mordents
