The Essence of Youth

The composer describes his image of childhood and youth in "The Essence of Youth", inspired by his own daughter. The opening stands for the unpredictability of children with lively rhythms, dynamic contrasts and changes of time signature. The first and second movements narrate the tensions, love and sorrow in the parent-child relationship with dissonant harmonies, but also with beautiful melodies. The conclusion is a fugue that leads to a magnificent chorale: a picture of proud parents with their child!
