Scenes for Band

The festive introduction Allegro moderato begins with a triplet horn fanfare, which continues in the trumpets and trombones until the whole orchestra enters. This is followed by a lyrical middle section with a beautiful solo melody in alto saxophone, which builds up into a beautiful tutti and then returns to a delicate dialogue between alto saxophone and oboe.

The immediately following part Allegro con fuoco offers some rhythmic and technical refinements and still sounds wonderfully light and playful. In the Con Anima, the entire orchestra then lets its sound power shine before in the Alla Marcia a fanfare-like melody in the brass is accompanied by the lively woodwinds.

The return to the Allegro con fuoco follows, before the triple fanfare theme of the beginning is taken up again in the Moderato Maestoso and offers the "Scenes for Band" a worthy finale.
