Sid The Serpent Who Wanted to Sing, Malcolm Fox's first opera for children, was commissioned in 1977. Sid, the story of a snake from the circus who strikes out on his own to make it as a singer, was an immediate hitwith audiences and critics alike, and is now one of the most widely performed operas in the U.S. and Australia.
