Trinity Concertino

Trinity Concertino is a chamber version of Trinity Concerto (2007) for oboe or saxophone (soprano or alto) and string orchestra, with the piano taking over the orchestra part. The title refers to the place where the concerto was composed - Trinity College, Cambridge.

Parts of the work: Larghetto, Agitato and Largo are linked by the intermingling of meditative, lyrical and dramatic elements, formed by the tension of the structures and the density of the texture. Vitalism and spontaneity are interwoven with often surprising lyrical and melancholic threads, which builds unity by contrast. The piano part was built from subtly modified sound layers based on selected sound material.

Although Trinity Concertino functions similarly to Trinity Concerto in versions for three different solo instruments - oboe or soprano saxophone, or alto saxophone - the composer and author of these words definitely prefers the version for soprano saxophone. Paweł Gusnar
