Primarily the pieces are arranged for two instruments: the solo flute only plays the other part in the introduction and conclusion and in the longer interlude passages. The accompanying flute always plays from the second staff and plays the shorter interludes alone. lf a third flute is added, it takes over the aforementioned sections from the solo flute and plays the cue notes on the upper staff but otherwise doubles all the forte-passages of the accompanying flute.
