High Up In The Sky is an overture for wind band. After a fanfare-like introduction the main theme, a hymn, that is the main essence of the composition, is presented. After a powerful rhythmical part, a free part is followed leading up to a hymn and the finale ‘Maestoso’. In the free part a solo flugelhorn imitates the echo of the solo trumpet, both soloists can ad libitum play off-stage.
