Description
Von Otto Nicolai sind lediglich zwei Werke für Gesang und Klavier mit obligatem Melodieinstrument bekannt: die "Variazioni concertanti" über Motive aus Bellinis "Sonnambula" (Neuausgabe erschienen als E.D. 23015) und "Die Thräne".
"Die Thräne" war außerordentlich beliebt und im Repertoire großer Tenöre bis in die Mitte des 20. Jahrhunderts nachweisbar. Auch der große Bariton Joseph Staudigl hat das Lied gesungen.
