Poursuite

It’s an acrobat. Or a prima donna. Jascha Heifetz or Ella Fitzgerald, somewhere between Paganini and Prokofiev. It’s the amazing performance in an imaginary music hall, in a circus for one athlete alone: lit by a follow spot lamp – precise, relentless, throbbing. These magician’s moves are enlightened by a sound and visual halo.

The dilated shadow sometimes precedes the gesture. That makes it shine, and also brings in some confusion. A chase. But to escape what? The ravages of time, ruthless and quiet. The structure, writing, character and spirit of 'Poursuite' are based on Thomas Brando’s poem 'L’Acrobate'. [Denis Dufour]
