This Love is one of two songs by Tansy Davies setting poems by Nick Drake, who would go on to write the libretto for Davies’s opera Between Worlds. Obsessive in the way that all its 3 minutes of music emerge from the vocal line, the song creates an awkward counterpoint from these refractions and reflections to create an austere and melancholy dance.
