For alto saxophone and piano
Rhizome: a modified stem running underground, producing roots and shoots .from its nodes. Vivacious music stemming .from a simple musical root and spreading out in multiple horizontal and vertical directions.
Starting from E fiat (the key of the Alto saxophone) as a tribu te to Glazunovs concerto, the rhizome first sends shoots toward its adjacent pitches E and D before spreading out to cover the whole range of the instrument.
This version for alto saxophone and piano is an adaptation of the original version for alto saxophone and string ensemble.
