Twist and Tight

This set of eight fanfares, called Twist and Tight, offers typical fanfare setup – two trumpets, two trombones and timpani. The set contains the score in original keys for trumpets in C. Other instrumental parts are written out in three versions which are different according to the types of trumpets and their scale possibilities.

Therefore the 1st version is written for trumpets in C - in original keys, the 2nd version is written for trumpets in Bb – in lower keys and the 3rd version is written for trumpets in A or in G (piccolo) – in higher keys. The aim of the different versions is to make the best of a distinctive sound and splendour of the trumpets in positions that are most accentuated for each type of the instrument.

The order of the fanfares is chronological (period of origin) rather than of difficulty level. The difficulty level of the individual instrument parts should be accessible for musical school students as well, as we had this aspect on mind form the very beginning.
