"Frühlingssonate"
Among Beethoven’s violin sonatas, the ‘Spring Sonata’ is probably the best known. Composed around 1800, it received its famous nickname much later. Originally it was conceived as a pair (together with Op. 23). A special feature is its four-movement structure, which is otherwise only found in the Violin Sonata Op. 96. The single edition (from UT50154) is based on the first edition authorized by Beethoven and on the autograph of the first three movements respectively.
