Schönberg composed the Acht Lieder Op. 6 in the winter of 1903/1904 and in the autumn of 1905.

This new edition for Schönberg's anniversary year 2024 includes the late Romantic songs Traumleben, Alles, Mädchenlied, Verlassen, Ghasel, Am Wegrand, Lockung and Der Wanderer. The texts are by Julius Hart, Richard Dehmel, Paul Remer, Hermann Conradi, Gottfried Keller, John Henry Mackay, Kurt Aram and Friedrich Nietzsche.
