Often, individual parts of operas become very successful, independent instrumental pieces. An outstanding example is the Anvil Chorus from Giuseppe Verdi’s opera Il Trovatore. Thanks to its symphonic characteristics, it is especially suitable for concert band transcription without losing its original character.
