EUGENE BUTLER (b. 1935) is a native of Durant, Oklahoma. His undergraduate degree was earned at Oklahoma University. His masters degree in Sacred Music is from Union Theological Seminary in New York and his Doctor of Musical Arts in Composition was earned from the University of Missouri in Kansas City. He has published over 1000 compositions with some 50 different publishers. His most popular choral composition in the Hope catalog is A 451 SING TO THE LORD A MARVELOUS SONG which ranks eleventh in sales on the all-time best seller list. For most of his adult life he served as Director of Choral Activities at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas and Dr. Butler lives today in retirement in that area.
