Sheet music by Manuel Rosenthal

Manuel Rosenthal, French composer and conductor (born 1904, Paris, France—died 2003, Paris), championed modern composers, notably Jacques Offenbach, Igor Stravinsky, Olivier Messiaen, and Maurice Ravel, who took Rosenthal on as his third and last composition student in 1926. Rosenthal was principal conductor of orchestras and was professor of conducting (1962–74) at the Paris Conservatory. His best-known composition is Gaîté Parisienne (1938), a ballet suite based on music by Offenbach. Rosenthal was made a Commander of the Legion of Honour and of the Order of Merit.
