op. 81
Ferdinand Beyer was one of the most productive Schott composers in the 19th century, with over 1000 editions published. He was well known during his lifetime for his simple piano arrangements of popular orchestral and opera melodies. His ‘Vorschule im Klavierspiel’ (‘Preparatory School’) op. 101 is still widely used today, in revised reprints, especially in Asia. This Chopinesque Nocturne (plate number 8454) was published in the album ‘Les Soirées d’Hiver’ (winter evenings) in 1846, along with piano works by other composers, and is dedicated to Henriette Schott.
