for Dixieland Band
St. Louis Blues is a two-part piece. The first movement is in the form of a habanera, the second a classic twelve-bar blues.
It was originally written by William Christopher Handy, inspired by an encounter on the street of a woman despairing after the passing of her husband. The song was very popular and was released on record by Luis Armstrong.
Adam Brzozowski's arrangement is for ensemble, which can optionally include clarinet, trumpet, trombone, piano, electric guitar / banjo, bass guitar, drums.
