Elegy Op.24 for String Bass and Piano, by leading French composer, Gabriel Faure, was originally composed in 1883 for Cello and Orchestra. Displaying his typical use of harmony, this work begins with a sad and somberopeningthat builds to an intense, rapid section symbolising the despairs of love. This edition has been accurately edited by Homer Mensch and includes a Piano reduction of the Orchestral backing.
