Belle Epoque Russe
Vladimir Pogoyev's transcriptions for violin and piano of two episodes from Alexander Glasunov's ballet 'Raymonda' are among the most famous 'Raymonda' arrangements. The composer Pogoyev (1872-1941) belonged to the circle of musicians around the publisher M.P. Belaieff and was personally acquainted with Glasunov. The brilliant transcriptions of the 'Grand Adagio' and of the 'Waltz' are intended for concert performances but can also be used in music lessons.
