Peng-Peng Gong's Metropolitan Overture was a joint commission of the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra. The premiere concert on May 22, 2016 was both to open the five-year artistic collaborationbetween the two orchestras, and also to welcome the grand opening of the Shanghai Disneyland.
