At first, the Metamorphoses were composed for accordion in 1992 (published by AUGEMUS in 1996) and afterwards arranged for piano in 1993. The version for piano is published in this present edition at hand. In this composition, the idea of musical transformation is of decisive importance. A sound is harmonically, melodically and rhythmically being developed and passes through phases of retrograde motion, register-distortion, compression and expansion. The titles of the movements give an idea of form, character, feeling or sound pattern. An expressive shaping of the sound directly allows an emotional access to the musical process. Detailed fingerings and pedal notes assist in the performance and interpretation. Smaller hands may unobtrusively arpeggiate chords with extensive finger positions.
