Polka aus Mähren

The polka, which originated in Bohemia, came into fashion as a dance around 1830, then spread almost like a "plague" in Europe and finally conquered not only the entire dance-loving world, but also found its way into art music. In its regional, down-to-earth form, it continues to be popular in Bohemia, Moravia and Slovakia.

Drahoslav Kouril's polka from Moravia is one of the great concertante Czech-Moravian polkas. Jaroslav Zeman, an extreme expert of this genre, leaves unmistakably his style in his arrangement!
