I have always been attracted by big sacred texts and by philosophical works. If I have chosen to write a Requiem mass, it is certainly not to satisfy a morbid curiosity, the sort that you could find among some depressed romantics, or among certain theologians with ancient masochistic ideas, absurd moralists of the Inquisition, confusing life with suffering. Above all else, I've searched for a way to get closer to my faith by an inner pilgrimage, a clear and essential quest. I think that music is before all else, spiritual. It is through music that I have drawn on my need for God, and it has given a sense of direction to my life. What can be said about the comfort of listening to the great prophetic works of Johann Sebastian Bach ? To write a Requiem is firstly to write a monumental life work. - whether it is for our deceased, for those whom we wish eternal life or rebirth, or for the comfort of the living, in caring for them as they search for the absolute. Through my music I demonstrate an inner journey, often conflictual, passing between my doubts and my convictions, allowing me to shake off all that is worldly and superficial., in order to seek enlightenment, inner preparation for birth and creation, searching for lightness, liberation, a vibration both cosmic and universal.
