Die Inspiration für Forbidden Valley ("Das verbotene Tal") war ein Traum, in dem es um eine Reise in ein tiefes, trockenes Tal ging, das aber auch lebendige Geheimnisse, stille Gewässer und zaghafte Vegetation barg.
Das Stück kann von einem Flötenquintett bestehend aus drei Flöten, Alt- und Bassflöte oder einem außergewöhnlicheren Bassflötenquintett bestehend aus Bassflöte, Bassflöte in F, Kontrabassflöte, Kontrabassflöte in F und einer Subkontrabassflöte gespielt werden.
Alle Stimmen auch für diese Besetzung sind in dieser Ausgabe enthalten. Es werden einige erweiterte Spieltechniken eingesetzt, insbesondere Geräuschtöne und Zungenpizzicato.
