op. 25,2
Felix Rault was born in Bordeaux in 1736, but grew up in Paris where his father worked as a bassoon player with the Royal Orchestra. Felix was trained there as a flutist by the brilliant Michel Blavet and is considered Blavet's most talented and best-known student. Up until the Revolution, he had a brilliant career as a flutist, but there are no traces left of him beyond the year 1800. Rault's compositions keep up the tradition of the old French school. The edition presented here is based on the first edition by Pleyel owned by the library of the Conservatorio di Musica Giuseppe Verdi in Milan.
