Die Sonate entstand um 1843 und erschien - wie die meisten Werke Wilsings - erstmals beim Berliner Verlag Bote & Bock. Die im Erstdruck nicht gezählte Sonate in der entlegenen Tonart Fis-Dur ist Rudolph Jacobi gewidmet.
Die Ausgabe enthält ein Geleitwort "Zur Neuausgabe der Klavierwerke Daniel Friedrich Eduard Wilsings" von Rainer M. Klaas sowie Nachwort und Kritischen Bericht des Herausgebers Guido Johannes Joerg.
